I’m a scientist with experience in science journalism, adept at communicating complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences. I was a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at The News & Observer, where I proudly produced multiple front-page science features. One of my favorite parts of working as a journalist is talking to interesting and sometimes notable people. I had the pleasure of interviewing astrophysicist and popular science book author Dr. Katie Mack for The N&O and Science editor-in-chief Dr. Holden Thorp when reporting at North Carolina Health News.
Currently, I’m a chemist in the industry where I work on developing materials analysis methods and research. I also lead inclusion and diversity initiatives that enhance women and Asian-Pacific groups’ development. Externally, I serve as media engagement director at the Journal of Science Policy and Governance and am involved in science communication groups.
I’m bilingual—occasionally I write in Mandarin and one of my most popular pieces (about bubble tea) appeared in Business Today of Taiwan.
